I was watching Good Morning America this morning (a luxury I was only able to indulge in because the boys were at a sitter's house) and I saw an interesting segment on what stores have the cheapest prices on namebrand over-the-counter medications.
Let me first say that I, nearly always, buy generic drugs. I read the ingredients and if the active ingredients are the same (which, more times than not, they are) I buy the storebrand and find I can save up to 70%.
But, if you are loyal to your favorite namebrand, you should pay attention to the study by Shop Smart.
They found that Walmart and Target nearly ALWAYS have the cheapest prices on namebrand medications (i.e. Tylenol, Advil, Claritin, etc.) And, that there was really no price difference between Walmart and Target.
Stores such as CVS, Walgreens and RiteAid were more expensive - sometimes, considerably so.
Keep this in mind when you go to shop for medications - especially if you have coupons to combine with these low prices!
