Save Money with Groupon

Nov 10, 2009

In the last few weeks, I discovered a website that I'm beginning to really love.

Many of you may be familiar with it, but for those of you who aren't, it's called Groupon.

This is how it works. You can sign up to join their email list by clicking here (I did this, so I get a notifiction each day about the daily deal) or you can just remember to go to their site each day.

Anyway, if I were to go on their site, and find the link to Austin, I might be able to pay $25 for a $50 gift certificate to a local spa. Or, I might see a deal to pay $27 for $90 worth of Jazz classes at a local studio. Every day the deal is different. I've seen deals for restaurants, ice cream places, amusement parks, dog grooming, zip lining - even a deal for a trapeze school!

The thing is, though, that the deal is not "on" unless a certain number of people buy it. Some days the number is 25. Sometimes it's more. Once that many people purchase it, however, the deal is valid and you have until the end of the day to buy it. (Though, I see that some of the deals have "sold out" - so there may be a limit on how many are for sale each day. Thus, if you really want something, don't wait to buy it.)

In addition, if you see a great deal, you can send an email or Facebook or Twitter message, to a friend about it and if they buy it, you get a $10 credit (but always use the link on their page to do this so that you get the credit!)

Just a few days ago, I purchased one of their deals. But I can't tell you what it is, because it's going to be a Christmas present for someone who's probably reading this!

I really enjoy seeing what the new deal is each day. I bet you will, too!
